Congress of the Republic approved the Bill that eliminates the interests of educational credits from the national savings fund, the measure will benefit 2 million affiliate of strata 1, 2 and 3
In the last debate, the Congress of the Republic approved Bill that eliminates the interest in the national savings fund educational loans. The project was promoted by the representative and Chairman of the conservative party, David Barguil.
This measure will benefit approximately 2 million members and the better-off will be students in strata 1, 2 and 3, prioritized in the Sisben, who will be subsidized 100% of the interests of the credit by the national Government.
“With this law, there will be greater opportunities for the young people of Colombia and will generate more access to higher education. Students in strata 1, 2 and 3 will have 0% real interest rate, replicating our other law that eliminated Icetex credits interests and which has benefited 390,000 students,”explained Barguil.

This initiative extends the benefit of the 1547 Act of 2012, also of their authorship, which eliminated the interests of Icetex educational credit. On this occasion it will be members of the national savings fund who will benefit from the measure.
“From the conservative party understand that the only possibility of transforming to Colombia, break the gaps of inequality, is allowing low income Colombians have the opportunity to educate themselves”, said the representative.
This project, that it will become the law of the Republic, has the endorsement of the Ministry of finance and the support of the national savings fund.
